Twitter Reacts: Adele Accused of Cultural Appropriation

Adele met tweeps’ heavy blows after she posted a photo on Instagram wearing a Jamaican flag bikini with her hair twisted into Bantu Knots.

The photo was a result of her celebration of the 2020 edition of west London’s traditional celebration of Caribbean and Black culture that took place remotely for the first time in its 50-year history due to Covid-19.

Tweeps crowed to criticise the 32-year old singer’s decision to wear Bantu knots – a traditional African hairstyle in which the hair is twisted into a series of small coiled buns.
