Question your thoughts
Our minds generate rampant thoughts that may be harmful at times. It’s even worse when we are anxious. Before you accept thoughts that can undoubtedly or absent-mindedly engineer anxiety, ask yourself is that anxious thought a fact or an opinion. If it is an opinion, then you are just anxious for nothing.
2. Don’t fall into the avoidance trap
Anxiety makes one uncomfortable and tends to make you feel the urge of avoiding the thing or situation that is causing the anxiety. However, when you avoid such situations or the fear, the heap accumulates. You may end up in a situation where you are avoiding more and more situations. This makes it worse since you haven’t faced your fears. Our body adjusts when we continuously face our fears and eventually the anxiety reduces.
3. Acceptance
You should accept that anxiety is common and can happen to anyone. Accepting anxiety prepares us to face our fears and be ready for any changes. However, if your anxiety is long term and affecting your day-to-day life you shouldn’t just accept it in order to feel better, you should seek support.
4. Test it out
Often, when we get anxious about things, we are making negative prediction about what will happen. If you make negative predictions, be like a scientist and testit out or how will youever know if your prediction was right?
5. Breath deeply
Breathing deeply helps the body to settle down to it’s more natural equilibrium. This will help you stay calm and relaxed.
