‘I WASTED ALOT OF CASH PARTYING INSTEAD OF INVESTING IN MY MUSIC CAREER’ – MC DOLLAR

JOAT is the best way to describe this hardworking young Legendary rapper. He asserts that he could be on a notch higher level if only he knew how to manage his finances, Valentine Grace catches up with him.

Tell us briefly about yourself
I go by the name mc dollar aka the 23 savage, born and raised in Nairobi…I work with a record label called blacjac records.

When did you start rapping?
My rapping career began way back in highschool, I used to have a crew by the name lyrical criminals though it wasn’t that serious, we performed at funkies and school events…

What genre of music do you do?
Basically I think my music is really versatile, am dropping a mixtape late April wich has a touch of everything from trapsoul, hard mummble rap, Afropop name it…

Apart from music, what else do you do?
Mmmhh say am everywhere like ubber, am in the act of perfecting my skills as a videographer from video sets to editing, I Mc at events and clubs, am also a pet lover, I have a company called Nairobi K9 unit, I breed security dogs.

If you were to change something in your past, what would it be?
Though music goes hand in hand with party life, I wasted a lot of cash turning up back then, cash which I could have invested or something, so if i was to change something it’s got to be proper cash management which am working on…

What motivates you to continue doing what you do?
My mama has been really supportive, People I hangout with appreciate  what I do…guys be like ‘you are a star ni venye uko kando ya jua watakuonaje’ statements like that keep me going, Music is like food to my soul i cant stay hungry.

Tell us in a glimpse about your song ‘money on my mind’
Money on my mind, was like a group intro song to the music scene, apart from solo projects, I have a crew called cheddar bang gang voodooseller, droopy khalahari and me inclusive. The group is a bit huge apart from artiste, we harbour dancers, producers, directors, event organizers etc.

What’s your biggest plan this year?
my biggest plan is to go commercial, I am currently working on my videos which will be released on intervals depending on my management at blacjac records.

If you had one message to your ex, what would it be?
hehe that’s a tricky question or you mean my immediate ex, ‘you played yourself, this could be us.’

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

Last words
I would like to big up my producers official pbs, passybwoy, lvizzle beats, the inhouse team dollar, my fans and  my CEO CJ.
