FROM PRODUCING FOR BIG ARTISTS, TO ACTING IN MAZA, AZIZA AND KOVU, HITMAKER TK2 SHARES HIS SECRETS

He is a jack of all trades. A trailblazer. With a strong foundation in music production and an unshakable pillar in acting, Musa kugotwah asserts that it’s through hardwork, humility and consistency that he was able to go up the ladder of success. He has produced hitsongs for artists such as Masauti, Kelechi Africana, Akothee, Nigerian finest skales to mention but a few. Additionally, he recently casts in Lulu Hassan’s TV series, Kovu. Let’s catch up with him.

Tell us briefly about yourself

My Real names is Musa Abdallah Kugotwah born and raised in Mombasa, 20th May 1989. I am a graduate of Media and journalism, Sound Designer Virtual Reality Content Creator, Audio Programmer(Video Games),
Dialogue Editor Film,TV.
Skilled Music producer/composer, Mixing & Mastering engineer running an indie production based in Kenya.
I’m also an actor featured in Citizen TV Kenya (Aziza series) playing a Music producer Role, & Now acting in “KOVU” series which is on Showmax & aired on Dstv channel 163 (Maisha Magic Plus) everyday Monday to Friday.
My work is creative, detailed, exciting and next level based.

When did your journey of being a music producer begin?

my journey being a music producer started way back when I was in Nursery school, being a leader in music club, later a drummist in my primary & secondary while participating in Kenya music festivals. I also managed to learn how to deejay. That time I used to play music in home events that’s where my music production passion began. I managed to save my little coins I had and little support from my family and bought some few musical equipments then started training myself.

Which artists have you worked with?

Thank God I worked with major artists from in and out of Africa, though I won’t manage to mention them all. I raised few artists who are doing well now like Masauti, Kelechi Africana, Akothee, CityBoy I also worked with Skales from Nigeria, Enock Bella from Tanzania, Susumila Chikuzee, Brother Nassir and many more.

What qualifies one to work with you?

I like working with Talented, hardworking & humble artists. This gives me a great motivation and hope to achieve success.

Have you ever disappointed your client? How was it?

Disappointments have been part of my challenge. I once disappointed one of my client who had invited me to his show somewhere. I didn’t managed to get there cause I had an Emergency.


Which song did you produce that makes you happy everytime you think about it?

I love my productions, plus I have produced hits for years that’s why they Entitled me Hitmaker Tk2, but to answer your question, these are the songs which makes me happy.

Apart from being a music producer, I hear you are also a talented TV actor, tell us a bit about that

I have been participating in Entertainment industry as well, so I had this passion of acting too. I began by playing minor short roles in Tv and now am playing big roles; being one of the main cast it’s not an easy thing. One of my friend once told me that my acting skills reflects my music production skills so am so proud of my self for sure.

I see, so apart from the new TV series KOVU, which other series have you casted on?

Apart from Kovu, I was in Maza and Aziza in Citizen Tv, playing a role as a music producer it was awesome.

Music production and acting, whicj ome do you love the most?

That’s challenging question to me cause they both pay bills.


What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Best advice I have ever received was from my lovely dad telling me,
“No Matter how busy you are, create Time and good relationship with your God.”
