He wears copious hats for his age. At 17, he is already a renown chess player, app developer, programmer and a second year student at Witwatersrand University. He might pass for a genius. Let’s dig deep, shall we?

TELL US BRIEFLY ABOUT YOURSELF

I’m Musa Nyathi, a passionate programmer and chess player. I’m the former South African junior chess champion and the 2017 President Jacob zumas cup silver medalist. I love to code and I love developing apps that makes peoples lives better.

YOU ARE 17 YEARS OLD, SECOND YEAR STUDENT AT WITWATERSRAND UNIVERSITY, HOW IS THAT?

I started school very early, I was so tall so my aunt decided I had to go to school because people my height were 3 years older than me.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DEVELOP FLENSI CONNECT

After the lock down was extended, people complained about how they’d have to spend so much money on what’sapp data in order to stay in contact, so I came up with a solution to build a very low data using app.

HOW DOES THE APP OPERATE ?

It allows you to chat to other people with low data and has privacy features like a screenshot blocker, self in built diary and a message trimmer. I’d say it’s the better version of WhatsApp.

WHERE DO YOU SEE THE APP IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS?

I see the app overtaking all the social media apps in the world, we will keep developing it until it gets to that point.

WHAT ARE THE UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE APP?

A message trimmer, a screenshot blocker, a self in built diary, and a very strong call connection.

WHAT IS ONE THING THAT PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU?

That I’m going to be the world first trillionaire.

Keep practicing and solving problems and don’t be afraid to ask for help because you can never be a good developer with pride and ego.
