Cardi B Wins $1.25 Million Defamation Suit Against Blogger Who Claimed She Was ‘A Prostitute’
Cardi B was awarded $1.25 million Monday by a jury that agreed with her lawsuit against celebrity blogger Tasha K for defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Tasha K, whose given name is Latasha Kebe, had spread false allegations that Cardi B had herpes, used cocaine and worked as a prostitute.
The verdict was announced on Monday, following a two-week trial during which both sides presented their stances.
The Bodak Yellow hit-maker turned to court in March 2019 to take action against Kebe’s ‘malicious’ comments accusing the I Like It rapper of cheating on her husband and other allegations.
The Grammy-winning rapper also took a stand that the social media personality attempted to ‘destroy’ her career through baseless accusations that first initiated in April 2018.
On January 13, the rapper told the jury that she even considered ending her life amidst claims made by a YouTube channel unWinewithTashaK.
Cardi B had testified that seeing the false statements on YouTube sent her into extreme anxiety and depression and made her feel “extremely suicidal.”
It made her feel utterly hopeless, a courtroom source told Rolling Stone. “Only an evil person could do that s–t,” she said.
