BUY KENYAN, SELL KENYAN, BE KENYAN.
When I think of talent, I think of Nikita Kering, Nadia Mukami, Ethic, Amina, the list is endless. The music industry is growing by the day and I for one love where it is headed.
If any of you did watch the Kalasha awards last year or pulse award then you would really appreciate these musicians, the Kenyan film industry, and the Kenyan raw talent. Tokodi Pascal put it across that we need to support the Kenya film industry and I for once second him.You hear and individual claim that he or she doesn’t do Kenyan music. “To each their own,” but do justice to yourself and love what is yours, support what is yours, back up what is yours as at the end of the day you will also need someone to back you up one day. Some claim there is no content but have you taken time to listen to the wisdom of “King Kaka” have you taken time to download an album by Nyashinski, have you taken time to attend a concert by Suati Sol.
Instead of categorizing each of them in a pool or criticizing the whole day. Find reason to listen to it, if you look hard enough you will see the good but if you focus on the bad definitely the speck will be magnified.
If you are looking for a blend of old and new go for Juakali, Nameless, Hart the band you will definitely find it. The number of Kenyan artists is on the rise, different genres but absolute talent, love their songs, give them your support and most definitely they will grow. They will be in a position to shout better films and definitely release higher quality music. Let us buy Kenya, sell Kenya.
Look for a film to watch, plan B is a great suggestion I would give. Increase the number of Kenyan music in your playlist and most definitely we will grow.
