IS IT WORTH IT: PYRAMID SCHEME

“You do not have active data bundle,” a message pops on my screen, it’s a warning that most of us take so seriously. And just like any other Kenyan, regardless of the controversial broke Month of January, I use my last penny to get the internet bundles and within no time my data is on. Suddenly on the notification box, a message pops up, ” Hi, I’m Juliet*(not her real name), working for a multinational company, recruiting very serious individuals to join us in making ksh.10000-35000 daily at your comfort. Working part time or full time with no qualifications. Ask me how and you’ll be rich.”
Well, this is one of the texts that can make you leave your favorite meal. Imagine working at home, no supervision, no qualifications, no day-to-day suits, just my phone and data, this is great, in fact at this moment I see her as heaven sent. To cut the long story short, I have just dialled *131# for an airtime loan to get some data bundles to update you, yet I ought to be a shareholder at Safaricom if only it was real earning 10-35gs per day using my phone, laughable. After a scrutiny, I have come with this to show you the kind of business that you are planning to venture into;

Affiliate Business, commonly known as Pyramid scheme is a kind of business that basically recruits members promising a good pay on bringing more members on the scheme. That’s to say you are paid by enrolling others. So it’s a kind of networking.
Pyramid scheme is not a new idea to many people, especially the youth, it has been for over a century now. However,a lot of modifications has been done to it. For example, the modification brings about provision of different products and services in their sites, unlike before when the schemes only funneled the money on costs incurred by recruiting members.

Just like the name Pyramid, it starts with a person, who later recruits two others, then the other two recruit two more under each of them. So a member recruits two after joining. most of time people confuse it with the Ponzi scheme because they are closely related. They both aim at Financial fraud. You heard me right, FINANCIAL FRAUD! That is to say, one person is robbed to pay the other who joined earlier. The ones who benefit a lot from this are the ones who are at the top of the pyramid who are the minority. Those on the lower bottom terribly loose. Pyramid schemes are unrealistic and the more the people the higher the chances of collapsing, they face a problem of recruiting a lot of people at once hence no good cash flow. As seen before, those on the top gain while those on the bottom line who make the largest percentage loose whenever the scheme collapses.

The members of these schemes have come up with different marketing skills to lure others into the businesses. For instance; Posing next to powerful sports cars with expensive suits, and a maliciously altered screenshot of a financial transaction to lure the people.And at times their lust for money make them pose next to a car with the same registration number, haha.

So many countries, if not all developing countries have declared pyramid schemes illegal, they include; United Kingdom, United States, Alabama, Ukraine, South Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore among others.

Before you join the schemes always do the following:
1. Conduct a background check on the company
2. Ask yourself if it’s worth it making the huge sum promised within that short period.
3. Ask yourself who claims to be making 10-35 gs a day would still look for you to join him/her other than eliminating others in the business
4. Ask the agents questions. Do not be fooled by words.
5. Take your time to go through the above points.
