IT’S ONLY BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS

It’s only been a couple of months yet the Alps can be seen clearly from afar, the Eifel tower can show off its height and basically everyone can take in a breath of fresh air and feel the ambience of nature, urban or rural settler regardless. Closer home, Mt Kenya is now visible from as far as Westlands!

A couple of months of being locked down to curb the spread of a deadly disease (COVID-19) with fatalities off the charts and infections tens of thousands a day in a city/country and counting. With the hope a cure a mirage away, the environmentalists and climate activists have a lot to thank for this blessing in disguise. Their point of ‘it’s possible to rid the nature of all the pollution’ is making its way home and practically the cause of all the source of misery i.e the depletion of the ozone layer (protection of mother earth), is evident. 90% of cars packed at home, industries shut down and fume emitting machinery put aside. Sad it took a disease to come to this ‘overnight’ success.

It’s rather unfortunate that it’s only a matter of time before people hit the road, burn fumes in unending ever-present traffic jams making their way to smog emitting factories and mercury discharging industries to make their ends meet. Forgetting the cycles, hikes, walks and runs they enjoyed around their beautiful surrounding during the lock down.

We stayed at home to keep safe, an order from the Commander in Chiefs. When things go back to normal, what mandatory rule, from whom, will help safeguard mother nature before we all succumb, or worse off, the generations we leave behind? Coz it clearly seems we’re deaf to the fact that everyone has a part to play and blind to the vision that in the end, it’s for our own good.
