MENTAL ILLNESS

Mental illness is not about being suicidal or feeling like you’ve gone mad neither is it about being depressed and closing your doors from people. Mental illness is when you wake up in the morning and you don’t feel like being grateful for the new day. It’s about you going to social media comparing your followers, your likes and even your pictures with that girl or boy. Mental illness is when you don’t believe in love, friendship or even family because severally you have been disappointed with those you trusted. Mental illness is when you no longer feel pain because you are used to being hurt, you feel like your heart is numb to all the feelings you’ve felt before. It’s when you know that life has beautiful things to offer but you don’t know what is blocking you from experiencing, seeing or even feeling your beauty.

Mentall illness is when you spend the whole day in your room, your door and windows closed, no fresh air, no light. Just darkness and the felling of dullness.You never want morning to come since it’s only at night that the world seems to understand you, it’s only at night that you feel embraced by all the good memories. It’s like you have a friend when darkness engulfs who listens to your cries and worries and during the day, he disappears into the light. You wonder, “who will wipe my tears?”

Daily, you feel judged. You look at yourself on the mirror and all you see is disaster, imperfection, unworthiness and failure. As you walk around,you see people staring at you, laughing at: your hair, your walking style, your dressing and then you hear them whisper “Here comes the weird girl, there goes the weird boy.” These words break your heart and you end up drowning in a pit of depression. You want to open up but they tell you the same things. I’ll tell you, be positive, don’t listen to what people say, you are wonderfully and fearfully made says the Bible. Ignore them!

They assume you’re a failure. They don’t know your goals, right? It’s just that your life is dark. And you’re hopeless. Change your mindest. Decease from viewing things negatively. Don’t feel alone and lonely in a world with over a billion people. In a room full of friends and family, you still feel alone and an outcast, why? You want cry but you can’t shed your tears in public, just cry if you must, to be heard! Sometimes you let go of your fears and tell them how you feel but they just emphasize on you being positive and you feel like no one understands you.You try talking to your creator for change or signs of happiness or just anything good but…Nothing! Now even the doors of heaven are closed. You think you live a life where you flow with everything good, bad, just anything.You don’t care. You have given up.You have everything in life, money, perfect family, rich friends but still you don’t see any good in all these. Things can’t always be this way because..IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD! IT’S OK TO BE SAD, IT’S OK TO FEEL LOST. IT’S NORMAL.

It’s not a matter of being positive only. You’ve to accept life the way it is and face your fears fearlessly. Positivity is just a part of it.I mean, you cannot always be positive if your life is going topsy-turvy.We are humans, we have to experience life differently. If the burden is heavy for you to carry, open up not only to a person, books but also notepads. Write your story if no one listens to you. Even if it’s on a piece of paper or on a wall or on the ground. Let it all out because you are a child of the universe and until your purpose in life is fulfilled, you are worth it and deserve to BE HAPPY. SMILE AND THANK GOD!
