He says,”If fashion was a crime,I would plead guilty.” We caught up with one of the most acclaimed models out here and he shared is story.

Who is SirDennis_ thebrand?
First,Thankyou for having me for this interview..
SirDennis_thebrand is a Kenyan based commercial, fashion and runway model. I am  a student at Murang’a University of Technology. And above all else,I am a believer.

How were you “discovered” and how your modeling career all started?

Okay, as I grew up, I used to admire seeing guys on TV walking down the runway dressed for different categories and I would sometimes try to do some dress codes, and little did I know I had developed a passion for modeling. After my primary level, I did take it serious but whenever I saw a guy dressed well I really took note. Random friends would tell me that my body is figured for a model but at first I never took it serious. But after sometime, I told a friend of mine that I would like to venture into fashion industry and she told me I start with modeling. So it came a time while in my third year of study and I contested for Mr and Miss Murang’a University and it was a success, since then,I have seen a massive growth in my career and for sure I got something I would die for.

Was modeling something you always wanted to do, or did it just kind of happen?

For sure, I had the passion, but I was not that sure that its one thing that I would want to venture in. But for now,its one thing I can die for.. Haha

How would you describe your personal style, Where do you pull your inspiration from?

On my personal style,I always go for that which will stand out as being unique and far much different from the rest.
I believe I am my own inspiration. When I look back to where I started and my current position, that feeling makes me double my efforts since it gives me the hope I will be better tomorrow. Also, I look up to models and Fashion designers who have made it in the industry and for sure, I wanna be better than them someday.

Is modeling an easy job or more strenuous than people realize? (How so)

Modeling is not easy and at the same time it is very easy.
It takes a lot to be a model, but the main secret is venturing in it with pure passion. Allowing your passion to grow each day. In simple terms, fall in love with it and the good thing is it will reciprocate the love back and for sure modeling will be easy.

I understad you are Mr kentmere kenya 2020 as well as Mr Embu Valentine’s,talk us through.

Yeah, the urge and passion for modelling took me to higher heights of achieving much and I took part in the beauty contest for Mr and Miss Valentines Embu County and for sure it was tough on the runway but I took the tittle and for Mr.Kentmere kenya 2020 I also managed to take the tittle. To add too I have also been Mr.Popularity kentmere. They have all been a good opportunity to grow.

Are you signed to any agency?

No. I am freelance model

What’s the best and worst thing about being a modeling?

There are a lot of good things about being a model. To mention but a few, it gives you the chance to find and build self esteem since you got a massive audience everywhere who are looking up to you.
So far, I don’t think there is anything bad about being a model.

How has Covid-19 affected you as a model?

The pandemic has not only affected the modeling industry but all sectors. As a model, I had projects that I had that were cut short by Covid-19. There is no opportunity for meeting and training with other models and also there are no events that would take place so its all a loss.
It my prayer that it will end soon. I got firm hope that we shall overcome.

Give us 5 facts that people don’t know about you.

First of all, I pray a lot
Am always too focused on anything I set my mind on which hurts when it does not turn out in my favour.
Sometimes I over think.
Am a good preacher.
And finally am so soft hearted.

What else do you do other than modeling?

I am a student

Any upcoming plans?

So far am waiting for the end of this pandemic hopefully then I will know what to do next.

Parting shot

Okay.
First, my shout out is to everybody who is trying to get their lives together. Working on yourself is the hardest part of life. The rest comes after. Keep going, no matter where you are.
I would like to let everyone know that dressing well each day is a form of good manners. And to all who got passion for fashion and modelling, take this to the bank “Each day is a page for you fashion story”. I will leave you with my all day phrase ” If fashion is a crime,I would plead guilty”
Thank you.
