YOU WIN SOME, YOU LOSE SOME

I preferred the microwave near the receptionist. I’d sometimes warm my food thrice just so I look at her busty bossom as I walked back in my office. She was the girl of every man’s dream. Like Gillette, she was the best a man can get. She worked as a receptionist, and I was just an intern trying to figure out life.

We hardly talked passed “hi, hi.” I even came to know her name through Mwangi, my fellow intern. Though I still couldn’t figure out if it was Maria or Malia. “You mean Malia like Obama’s daughter?” I had insisted.

Let’s not blame Mwangi’s tongue, yet.

Everytime I signed in for work, I made sure to look at her ring finger to ensure she didn’t get married in a private wedding without my knowledge. Not that I wanted to pop the question to her, but it would have hurt to know she was out of market. Plus, crushing on her just felt heavenly.

This one time, I decided I’d break the ice. I swaggered towards the microwave, with my melamine bowl, in it was a sausage comfortably ready for disaster. I set it to warm for 22 minutes then walked back to my office. The next thing I heard, was my crush’s loud scream.

I rushed back and hugged her tight to my chest. “What is it?” I asked. She pointed with her cute index finger at the smoky microwave. The sausage had overheated and busted. It had scared the hell out of her.

“It’s alright, it’s nothing serious.” I allayed her worries, in a hug that felt so warm. Other colleagues had gathered too to see what was going on. I was there, enjoying my feigned super heroism. In my head, the mission was accomplished.

After the comfort. She narrated of her past experience when she was working at Dusit D2 which always haunts her whenever she hears any kind of blast. I knew all that – Mwangi had told me ealier, and he even helped me come up with this prank.

We later exchanged contacts, and confirmed her name is Maria.

Life was unfolding really well till my boss mustered me to his office the next day. Long story short, I was fired for PDA with Maria(CCTVs lied, I was only trying to comfort her), and for misusing company’s property.
