The imaginative reason for yoga was for spiritual growth but this has transformed since then. A story is told about a villager who had a son and a horse. One day, the horse left its stable and hid itself in the forest. When the villagers heard, they went to meet the villager. ‘We heard that your horse has disappeared, you must be really unhappy,’ they said. ‘Maybe,’ the villager replied.

The following week, the lost horse came back home with other horses. The villagers received the news and came to celebrate with their fellow villager. ‘You must be happy since your horse has not only come back but also brought along other horses too,’ they exclaimed. ‘Maybe,’ the villager replied.

The son was very happy that they now possessed more than one horse, so he went outside to play with them. He hurt his legs, and since the villager had very nosy neighbors, they caught the news and came to display their support. ‘You must be sad that your son has been injured by your horses,’ they said. ‘Maybe,’ he replied.

There was a war, and the soldiers came to recruit the firstborn of each household in the village. The villager’s son did not go into the war because of the severe injury that happened to him. The villagers came back to tell him how lucky he must be that his son did not go to war. ‘Maybe,’ the villager replied.

There are three types of beliefs that hold us back from our mental growth:

1) Unhealthy beliefs about Ourselves

It’s okay to be sad, but self-pity magnifies your problems. Hosting your own pity party keeps you stuck, and later you are unable to find solutions to your problems. If I have learned anything, it is that good habits are not enough to help you when you are going through a mental breakdown. It’s the small unhealthy habits that you need to keep away from. It’s like when you want to be really healthy, you have to exercise, but if you really want to see results, you need to give up junk foods.

2) Unhealthy beliefs about Others

Like the villagers, they kept on reminding the villager of his fortunes and misfortunes. The villager did not give up his power because he had a different reaction from what the villagers were probably expecting. Again, when you only hear about what people have to say about your life, it will hold you back from looking at the bigger picture.

3) Unhealthy beliefs about the World

We expect that the world owes us something, but that comes with its disappointments. That if you really work hard, you have to be successful. Once we are able to change our mental state, we look at the bigger picture. The only person you are allowed to compete with and compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

Like the villager, we should focus on how we react to ourselves, others, and even the world so that we cannot lose our power. Once you recognize that you have the power, nothing can stop you from attaining what you hunger for from this universe. Train your brain to think differently and positively every single time, and you will be the king and queen of your own kingdom. I recently came across a meme: ‘Don’t force issues because everything that happens has before now been written.’

Choose the right Shade

This is one key essential to consider when you are putting color on your hair. Remember the process is not easily erasable so when you are adding on color, remember that might be your look for some time. Don’t make a mistake of visiting a store and grabbing a color just because your idol has it on or that the model on the package looks admirable. There are high chances that you are not the model’s twin so how it appears on them may be different from how it appears on you. The best choice of dye would be the one that is based on your skin color and if that is impossible to choose, the internet can give you a hand.

Don’t make a drastic change

Anytime you want to alter with your hair color using more than three shades, it’s wise to visit professionals because if you happen to combine the wrong essentials, your hair will not give you the smile you intended. There are dark and extreme light bases to go with different shades so when you mess up a bit, everything changes including the hair color you intended and I bet you didn’t plan on wearing hoodies and caps when you desired to change your color. Have it go through the right process and you will not have to wait for the dark to go outside the house.

Prepare your Hair

This bit helps in how the shade will embrace your hair. When coloring your hair, make sure it is oil-free or even water-free for better results. If you want that hair color to pop, heating is Advised -You could go on a dye for better results but even natural light will give you the look.

Do adequate research on hair coloring

This is one essential process that we all ignore. Knowing about the dye you want to apply will guide you to know the maintaining process you will also have committed to before dying. You need to ask yourself if the hair dye that you need to dress your natural hair will consume much time since if you are going a shade higher, the process for darker shades will not be the same as for the person who wants light colors. Coloring your hair might damage your natural hair so you need to know what company is suitable for your hair texture.

Word of advice: if it’s your first time coloring your hair, you should avoid coloring it red because it is the most difficult to achieve and it needs a higher maintenance because it tends to make your hair dry and tough.

With these short tips, it’s also advised to look into applications that will guide you in choosing the right color. Avoid these bold colors that you see celebrities with because they are not planning to stay with that hairdo long after a video shoot or even an interview. Go with something that will serve you for some time

Every lady loves to look put together. She likes to be seen as if she has put much thought into her clothing, even though that might not necessarily be the case. She needs to look well-appointed and expensive. It’s not about putting on a Gucci skirt or having a Channel bag to look well-dressed. Today, we get to acquire tips and tricks that can be applied on everyday look without putting much draining in the pocket.

BODY CONTOUR

Dressing your body is the best advice anyone can contribute. There is a reason why certain clothing items look better on you. Based on your body contour, an outfit will highlight your body at the factual places. It is important to know whether you are an hourglass shaped lady so that you can wear outfits that highlight your waist. A lady with the inverted triangle shape, will look her finest when she wears outfits that draw her away from her far-reaching shoulders. For a banana shaped lady, outfits that create an illusion of a more defined waist will make you look like a million bucks. Pear shaped ladies should put more emphasis on their upper body by wearing exiting colors. For a rectangle shaped body, you should devote more on belts so that you can define your waist. Spoon shaped ladies bring more attention to their waist. The diamond shaped lady should wear bottoms that lengthens her body. Every lady with a circle body shape, should bring attention to her best areas by wearing empire dresses to define the narrowest part of the upper body hence camouflaging the stomach area.

COST PER WEAR

We, daughters of eve, are considered to be irrational buyers. Meaning we buy items not for the reason that we need them but because we want them. It is tempting for any girl to purchase an outfit just because it’s on sale without considering whether you will end up wearing it and the times you will wear. It is then, important to consider the cost per wear before making a purchase. This is by calculating the price of the outfit divided by the times that you plot on wearing it. Only buy clothes that you will actually wear. You should also put into thought how you spend your time so that you can purchase for attires that you will often wear.

MATCHING

Adding small details to your look elevates your style. It is important to match your metals with your clothing. When you know the outfit you plan on wearing is conspicuous, it’s best you match it with metals that are silent and the vice versa. Wear earrings that match your bracelet and a necklace that goes well with your ring or any alternative metal you might be Wearing.Three or Four things in one look is just too much and you don’t want to draw too much attention from your attire, do you?

COLOURS

Monochromic is a life style that brings one shade into an outfit. Having one color into your outfit makes you look exclusive and elegant and it’s convenient for any occasion. Mixing different textures and fabrications adds interest and features to your clothing. Wearing bold or bright colors is daring but dressing in the same shade is easier and infact, it will still give you a stylish effect. No matter what color you use, if you mix shades and tint of that color, it will work perfectly for any event. This brilliant appearance can also make you look slimmer and taller.

DON’T SHOW TOO MUCH SKIN

They said the best one is protected for last, so here we go. Don’t show too much skin. Social media can deceive you. Seeing a celebrity showing too much of her skin could make you think that it’s probably the best way to go. That is part of her job but for you, wearing clothes should not only look comfortable but also be comfortable to you. What’s the use of wearing something that you will have to pull down every time just because you saw the garment looked good on a celebrity? We are taught to embrace our bodies. Most women misuse this by putting on attires that she probably saw that looked good on a certain girl she admires at the office. The sad truth is that our bodies are different and what Gita looks good in might not fit Immaculate. A little bit of mystery is good for everyone. This gives you a more classic look. Wearing clothes that hug your skin is a terrible idea since it doesn’t highlight your body shape.

He told me he would call later but he used to call me anytime he was boned. He told me that I literally meant the world to him but now that my world was crashing down right before my eyes, he was nowhere to be found. He said he would take good care of me, only to later find out that it was a thirsty line he learned on the way while picking up my friends.

My mother warned me about him but his money blinded me and I didn’t care about what she had to say. My father’s instinct was not for him. I didn’t have to listen to my papa. My small brother loved playing with the toys he bought him. If only I knew he was to play with my life.

He said he would be here to take me home when the procedure is done. He promised me that what he made me do, was for our own good and I tried to make sense out of it. I’m now by myself, my mother won’t come to see me, my father won’t pick up my calls and I heard my brother can’t continue with his studies because the money that was saved up for his education, was consumed by my hospital bill.

Calling out all the ladies, you are beautiful and anyone would be lucky to have You! You are smart and you don’t need a few shillings from your pocket-full man. He will use that to enslave you, only to feed on your thirst for money. You will never be perfect so stop pulling out strings from your body — injections and unbearable surgeries to fit his desires. The perfect one for you will not mind whether you have stretch marks or that your skin tone is uneven. Let the likes on your social media not be determined by the number of swimsuits you own but by the confidence you have. You need to be a victor!

He never sends me a text yet he is always online. Perhaps he just left his data on without knowing it. Perhaps his boss just called him for an emergency meeting and he had to leave his phone unattended. Perhaps, he is tired from work and forgot to tell me goodnight. Ha-ha…the things that we ladies try to make sense out of. He doesn’t want to tell you that he is occupied with another lady that he loves. He doesn’t want to tell you that he uses you to cool off the heat he lit at home. He doesn’t want to tell you that you don’t mean anything to him and you are only there because you always boost his esteem whenever down.

Never expect perfection. There will always be a perfect person for you. Never settle for anything less, you are worth more. Make decisions that will be important to you in the next five years and more. I love you all!

I’m alone.Not lonely.

I’m alone because I feel comfortable.

I’m alone because I want to embrace it.

I’m alone because I understand better. I understand that I will never be flawless. I understand the only being who will observe my pain is standing in the mirror. I understand, I can burn a village to the ground or I can put out the fire. It all lies with what truth i choose to be part of.

I’m alone because I’m ready to accept that the world is not a location that favours the kind. I’m alone because i digested that out of wealth is out of respect. I’m alone because the media tells us that certain beauty can be achieved needlessly, yet the people sharing these statistics have to attain it by interfering with what God said to be perfect.

Something is wrong with our society. We twist the truth and feed on validation. We all want to see heads turn on our sight instead of cities bowing, at the sound of our echo. We want to be indicated along when we mention a couple of heroes, yet no-one is brave enough to say Stop when the city is burning. We all want to be kings and queens of the kingdoms that we’ve destroyed. We want to be seen by the world yet darkness surpasses us all.

We are not ashamed of the rumors we let our younger generation believe. We have toxified our cities with platforms that make a meal out of our thirst for fame. We’ve believed in our imagination and let the reality dim away. We want to be needed but all we need is acceptance.

Then, if this is what is left of the world, I prefer to be alone.

If beauty is stretched out by being perfect, alone i will stay.

If i have to sell my soul to the society so that i can get a following, let me be alone.

If I have to go through major diets, staving myself to turn heads, i have decided to be alone.

Don’t confuse alone for loneliness. No! I’m not lonely. I have my purified soul. I have my undivided mind. I have my harvested body and in fact, these is all I need.

Can you hear that? nothing. That’s the sound of peace. That’s the language I want to learn. That’s the space i want to be confined to. My spirit longs for it. My mind is crazy about it. My body is seduced by it.

Where will you choose to be? I suggest be alone. It gives your soul satisfaction. Your mind relaxation. Your body motivation. I’m ready to face the world alone because I choose to. I’m ready to say stop because I want to. I’m ready to change the society because i have to.

My favourite rapper, Yellopain, once said ‘if you are not trying to make a difference, what are you about

I recall back in Campus, our vice Chancellor arranged for a meeting to talk to us (the first years who had joined) on issues concerning how to cope with each aspect of life in campus whether academic, social affairs, name them. One thing that caught my attention, was when he said Campus could also be a place to find love.

As days went by, we came to realize that the Vice Chancellor knew what he was talking about after all. It is customary for campus students to form a group when joining for the first time. To familiarize themselves with the environment together.

It was interesting to me that the person who had been handpicked by the board of directors to be the chancellor could also be funny. I mean, you just don’t introduce love to an eighteen-year-old girl who is on the verge of knowing herself and what she wanted in life. So I thought.

Everyone takes a different direction after few months hence causing the split of the group. The word coupling becomes famous around campus. It takes others two weeks to know they want to be in a relationship and for others, it might take them more than two weeks to decide to be together. I mean, no one is judging. We all have different ambitions and priorities in Campus and its allowed.

Mixed race college students walking together

It reaches a point where people cohabit and decide to be together for a very long time. You know that annoying couple that cannot be separated? They go to every meal together, after class, you find them studying together and if you think that is annoying. Try to be friends with one. You will have to be a “third wheel” in every single place you go with them because they just can’t be separated. It is shocking that such a couple can split up but that’s what happens to some of them. Others stay together and get married. in fact, it does not come as a surprise because that was expected.

In short, Campus relationshiships is just like any other task in campus. They are people who are good at it, while, there are people who are winging it. It is true that Campus relationship can lead to a long term relationship and even marriage but it is also true to say that some of the relationship in campus are meant to last as long as they are in the campus.

‘Papa taught me that you can have the deepest roots, you can be the strongest, the tallest but if you don’t have aid from your village, all is in vain.

We lived by this principle and for centuries, we survived through storms and heavy rains. We had the shallowest roots so we used to join roots with all the village members and the conjunction made us survive anything that was brought to us. The town called us the redwoods as of our survival skills. We adapted the name but our clan added the name crannel to it.

Our merit came in the 1940s when we were all cut down to help them build shelters from our barks. If only they could plant us while they were cutting us down so as to keep us from extinction. Keep our legacy on how we lived, now,we are but picture frames and history books to you. Not my point exactly.’

The crannel clan knew that by linking their shallow roots together, it would have made them stronger. The fact that they were the tallest tress, no one would have imagined them going anywhere but down. They understood their dimness and urbanized a system that turned out to be their solid-state point. No man is an island and two works better than one.

Taking you back to our economics class, teacher always reminded us that one plus one is three since there is a special force that stands extra when we decide to work together. Come to think of it, I now understand why group discussion were so imperative to him and he even added more marks to group work than individual.

Working as a team does not show that you are weak. In fact, it symbolises how strong you are to realize you cannot perform the task alone. The Crannel’s didn’t let their shallow roots define them. Working as an individual, it is effective but then, as a team, the performance is efficient.

Going far demands a team .We are not perfect and never will we be. it’s is better for all of us to know that there is a point in our life time, we will need someone to hold the spade as we dig for gold. We might work alone and succeed but remember, just because something works, doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

Though tough times don’t last, tough teams do, a team is like a car, you can walk to where you want, but if you take a car, you will reach your destination early enough. It’s said that coming together is a beginning, staying together is a process and working together leads to success.

Time heals all the wounds; how do they know? -it stills hurts. It’s been way too long. long enough, for me to know I’m in a dark place. long enough, for me to call it home. Sad, right? Don’t tap my shoulder yet-telling me that this will soon be over. The lie that we all need it to stand but we don’t rely on it anyway.

I bet it cuts like a burning arrow in your heart, because those who do it are those humans that you hold close. It burns in your soul because those who are suppose to be there when your world is crushing down, are the same beings that put it on fire. They say their intentions were clear. How clear were they to see that it would have torn you into pieces? They say they never meant to. How did they think of it?

You are probably going through something more or less than what I am. Thinking that everything that begins also ends. But that’s it, you don’t want it to be over, you want it to rage in your soul. You never want to forget what they did to you. You never want to forget the situation they put you through. If you forget, you lose your path. If you lose your path, you allow such a happening to reap off your soul again. No one wants that, not even the person who made you feel little.
The truth is, at your darkest is where you find light. At your deepest thoughts, is where you find answers. At your worst times, is where you find salvation.

life is not about who is real to your face, it’s about who is real behind your back. Since we all know we can’t evade from this nightmare, we ought to embrace it. Betrayal is a two-way street; we are also capable of betraying those we Love. Let us put it in mind that someone somewhere will break us or we will break someone but still, life goes on. We are humans and making mistakes is an inbuilt system. Stop letting betrayal separate you from the world, instead, embrace it and see how far you will go. I mean, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Right?
