The alarming phenomenon of climate change poses a serious threat to the effective enjoyment of a wide range of children’s rights. Among these rights are the rights to life, water and sanitation, food, health, housing, self-determination, culture, and development. The impacts of climate change are already being felt, and they have a significant impact on the enjoyment of children’s rights.

Children’s rights are a crucial aspect of human rights which are generally characterized by economic, social, and cultural rights. These rights include the right to education, the right to a decent standard of living, the right to health, and so on. In addition to these, children’s rights also encompass individual rights that are designed to protect their overall well-being. Some of these individual rights include the right to live with his or her parents, the right to benefit from protection and many more.
Climate change has become a major concern for the rights of children in today’s society. One of the most affected rights is the right to education. The change in weather patterns, observed in most areas, has led to several disruptions in schools and learning environments. For instance, when there is drought and famine, or flooding, lives are lost, including those of children. The floods sweep away everything in their path, including children, while during droughts, children suffer from malnutrition leading to food insecurity and hunger, ultimately causing unnecessary deaths. It is heartbreaking to see that children are the most vulnerable victims of climate change.
It is important to remember that children are unique individuals with their own thoughts, feelings, and potential. They are not the property of their parents or the state, nor are they simply individuals in the process of becoming adults. As members of the human family, children deserve the same rights and respect as any other person. For children to grow towards independence, they require a nurturing and supportive environment that allows them to develop their full potential. This nurturing environment can be provided by family members. Unfortunately, due to the climate crisis causing more harm than good, many parents are forced to shift their roles, leading to the abandonment of important child rights.
The early experiences that children go through significantly influence their future development, which in turn affects their contribution to society over the course of their lives. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that children receive the necessary support and care to promote their healthy development. Since children are still in the process of developing, they are particularly vulnerable to adverse living conditions such as poverty, inadequate healthcare, nutrition, safe water, housing, and environmental pollution which are great contributors to climate change. The consequences of disease, malnutrition, and poverty can have a detrimental effect on the future of children. It is important to note that the well-being of children is important not only for their own lives but also for the future of their societies.
The well-being of children is of utmost importance for the future prosperity of any society. It is imperative to provide them with a nurturing and supportive environment, failing which can lead to dire consequences for both the individual and the society as a whole. The recent shifts in societal structures, such as globalization, digitalization, mass migration, and evolving employment patterns, are having a disproportionate and mostly negative impact on children. The transformation of family structures, coupled with a shrinking social welfare net in many countries, is also exacerbating the situation. These changes can have particularly devastating consequences in situations of armed conflict and other emergencies. It is, therefore, crucial to prioritize the needs of children and ensure that they are provided with a safe and secure environment to grow and thrive.
One of the most pressing issues that the world is currently facing is the climate crisis. It has become an urgent matter that requires immediate attention from governments across the globe. However, it is not just the environment that is being affected by this crisis; the rights of children are also at stake. As such, governments must prioritize protecting and upholding children’s rights in the face of the climate crisis. To do this, governments must limit global warming as much as possible and adopt measures that protect the rights of children everywhere. Additionally, they must significantly increase investments in adaptation measures that protect the rights of all children. It is also important to integrate strong children’s rights safeguards into all climate action to ensure that their rights are not neglected or compromised in any way.
In relation to the pressing issue of climate change. Governments have a responsibility to engage children fully in their strategies and actions to tackle the climate crisis. This requires providing children with ample opportunities to express their opinions and ideas on how to address the crisis, and ensuring that their voices are taken seriously. In addition, governments must take steps to integrate climate change education into formal education systems to ensure that children are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to participate meaningfully in decision-making on environmental issues. By doing so, we can make sure that children are not left behind in the transition to a sustainable economy.
Protecting the rights of children in the face of the climate crisis requires a holistic approach that involves limiting global warming, investing in adaptation measures, integrating strong children’s rights safeguards, and upholding their right to be heard and participate in decision-making processes. By failing to take appropriate measures to mitigate climate change, we risk erasing the development gains of recent decades, which have been hard-won through considerable effort and investment. The long-term consequences of climate change are dire, and we must take action now to ensure that future generations are not left with the devastating consequences of our inaction. Ultimately, it is only by involving children in the fight against climate change that we can ensure a better future for them and the planet as a whole.

A Leader should have the intelligence to maintain amiable interpersonal relationships with their followers’ students or peers and motivate them to assist them in executing the institutional or organizational aspirations. Therefore, our main ambition should be cultivating educational programs that promote consultancy and a friendly learning environment through the empowerment of better leadership in and around our institutions and organizations.

Therefore, for you to lead successfully you should be a reader, to meet or even go above the presuppositions of those around you, since a leader knows the way, shows the way and goes the way. As a leader for you to succeed, you must have your tools of trade and they may include; the institution or organization’s routines, core values, rules and regulations. Furthermore, you should get interested in the well-being of the institution or organization.

On the same note, you must at all times put in prayer the entire institution or organization in the hands of God for anything that is found through prayers takes more prayers to be vindicated, in other words, leaders are chosen by God. Leaders and their leadership competencies play a vital role in the growth of any institution or organization. Leadership refers to the process of instigating the behaviors of people for instance students or peers in a way that they strive deliberately and enthusiastically towards the accomplishment of cluster ambitions in most contexts.

Below are some definitions and some pertinent of leadership which if you put them into consideration will be of beyond assistance and impact to you as a leader.

A Leader refers to someone who can see how things can be ameliorated and thereby, rallies or inspires people followers or students to move towards the betterment of the institutional or organizational vision galvanized by dedication. A Servant Leader refers to someone who is focused on assisting an organization or institution to thrive thus putting the requisites of their fellows first.

Leadership refers to the proficiency of an individual to instigate and steer his or her followers or other members of an organization or institution positively towards executing a positive aim or aspiration. Servant Leadership is a leadership doctrine in which an individual interrelates with others intending to achieve authority rather than powers for him or herself.

Therefore, Servant leadership is enlightened and portrayed by the following;

  • Affirm to people that you are leading by deeds. When in leadership, it is not all about expendable privileges but an increment of responsibilities thus it must be identical in you by action. Are you at your level in a position to do what you want your subjects’ students or even peers to do? In other words, in many quarters I would say, “Actions speak louder than words.”

  • Acknowledge those in authority at all times. When in leadership that is, as a virtuous leader once you are on good terms, create that beneficial positive relationship and an authentic rapport with those in authority by following their decrees willingly. It will give you an easy time when you are in your line of duties thereby, remodelling your performance intelligence as a leader.

  • Sway the behaviour of others positively. Leadership is the intelligence of an individual to induce the behaviours of other people or students in the institution or organization to achieve a common purpose or goal so that they are willing to conspire with each other for the fulfilment of the visions and mission of the institution or organization.

  • Inter-personal process. Leadership is an interpersonal process between the leader and the people or students. The relationship between the leader and the students will assist you in resolving how efficiently and effectively the targets; in other words, in many quarters I would advance it as aspirations of the institution or organization would be met proportionally.

  • Attainment of common institutional goals. The purpose of leadership is to steer people for instance the students in an institution or members of any organization to trade towards the attainment of common institutional or organizational goals. You should bring people for instance the students or peers and their achievements together to execute common goals.

  • A cluster process. Leadership is a cluster process that involves two or more people for instance students coming together and merging. A student leader cannot lead without the students or people therefore, the process is interdependent to the other.

  • Cohorts on the circumstance. Leadership is contingency-bound as it all depends upon tackling the situations present. Thus, there is no lone perfect style of leadership, it all depends on the contemporary status and conditions to be handled.

  • Ensure that the students or people have the intelligence of reasoning. When in leadership, try by all means possible, technical skills and qualities to ensure that those you are leading are in stature to be able to apprehend together by all means and come up with a positive and peaceful agreement and can speak one voice. In other words, in many quarters I would echo it as “Unity is power.”

  • Ascertain that leadership is a perpetual process. A leader has to steer his people every time and also monitor them to make sure that their efforts are going in the same direction and that they are not deviating from their goals.

  • Discover that leadership is instigated through character. Character plays an important role that is; ask yourself these simple questions, as a leader is your character amiable to those you are leading? Can you serve as an example to those you are leading? If No. Therefore, emulate admirable characters and behaviours. In most instances, people love good things and they will develop interest and be self-motivated towards such actions. Furthermore, if you are a leader who is of good character and charismatic, they will respect you together with your ways of operations. In other words, in many quarters I would quote it as, “Respect is earned not given.”

  • Leadership creates an innovation that is; grim controversies are argued and unrevealed. It is by facts without premonitions that the developments, achievements, success or failure of an institution or organization are in the grips of its leaders. I am certain that the institution or organization will never go or develop beyond the motto, vision and mission of its leaders as a result your subjects or those whom you are leading look upon you in terms of decision-making and rivalry resolution.

Therefore, Leadership is all about being:

  • Aggressive but not ignorant. When you are strong as a leader they will dignify your decisions but when you are rude; they will not take ownership of your decisions on numerous occasions.

  • Humane but not cowardly. When you are tolerant as a leader, they will emulate and admire you but when you are weak; they will presuppose and take you for granted by all means possible.

  • Audacious but not an oppressor. When you are bold and courageous as a leader they will deliberately lend a hand to you until you succeed but when you are an oppressor; they will find ways by all means to bring you down and ensure your deterioration comes to pass.

  • Cautious but not slothful. When you are thoughtful as a leader those you are leading will relinquish to ensure you achieve the ambitions of the institution or organization but when you are indolent; none of them will be willing to link with you, In other words, in many quarters I would term it as, “Negligence is a sophistication of the passive mind.”

  • Gentle but not hesitant. When you are humble as a leader they will be willing to work with you under that; they will feel safe and secure around you but when you are timid, they will be eluding from you every time you try to engage them.

  • Confident but not insolent. When you are positively proud and always envision positively about yourself they will rely on you but when you are arrogant; and never listen to other’s opinions and sentiments they will run and avoid you in numerous incidents.

Several individuals and organizations have expressed concern regarding the provisions detailed in Chapter 6 of the 2010 Kenyan constitution, specifically those addressing leadership and integrity. Recent discussions have highlighted the importance of engaging young people in government decision-making processes, tackling the issue of climate change, and ensuring the streamlined operation of various departments and offices. Multiple media outlets have reported on these notable endeavours, which warrant further scrutiny and assessment.

As you continue on your journey towards achieving your goals, it is imperative that you take a moment to evaluate your own integrity. Are you able to consistently act with honesty and integrity in all situations? Unfortunately, many initiatives led by young individuals have encountered difficulties in maintaining transparency and accountability.

It has been reported that approximately 70% of these initiatives lack such qualities, which ultimately leads to their failure. These initiatives often attempt to conceal their shortcomings and may even exaggerate their successes for personal gain. Therefore, it is crucial to remain vigilant and uphold strong values of transparency and honesty in all endeavours.

In one of his lectures, Prof. Patrice Loch Otieno Lumumba made an insightful observation about the state of honesty in Kenya, stating that it is often viewed as a risky trait. This is a troubling sentiment, as it discourages individuals from embodying integrity and promotes a culture of fear.

To combat this, it is crucial that we instead focus on inspiring positive role models and fostering a culture of integrity through mentorship. By empowering individuals and promoting education, we can work towards creating a more civilized society where honesty and integrity are celebrated and valued.

In order to see tangible progress and positive outcomes as a nation, it is crucial for a greater number of young people to prioritize and actively practice personal integrity, self-discipline, and goal-oriented actions. It is not enough to simply talk about these values; they must be consistently upheld and embodied by those involved in important projects and initiatives.

This is essential in order to avoid disappointment and ensure a successful outcome. Furthermore, it is recommended that the government assesses the integrity levels of individuals before including them in their plans, as this will lead to more effective and efficient collaboration towards shared goals.

The post Advance Sustainability Before E-mobility Transition appeared first on .

]]>
The history of transportation has come a long way since the invention of the two-wheeled cart, which dates back to 3500 B.C.E. The evolution of transportation continued with the invention of bicycles in the 1800s, which led to the development of modern transportation, such as the Segway, a self-balancing, battery-powered device.

In the late 1800s, the first gas-powered vehicle was created, marking a significant milestone in transportation history. Since then, technological advancements have continued to pave the way for the transition from fossil-fueled vehicles to modern electric transportation. It’s exciting to witness the innovative strides in technology that are revolutionizing the transportation industry.

The world of Electromobility encompasses a range of vehicles, including electric cars, e-bikes, pedelecs motorbikes, e-buses, and e-trucks. What unites them is the fact that they are powered by electricity, often drawing their power from the grid and storing energy on board. Sustainability is a key factor in the development and implementation of e-mobility solutions.

It is critical to assess whether a mode of transportation is environmentally, socially, and economically efficient. By promoting sustainable transportation, we can help protect and preserve our natural environment, fostering a greater appreciation for the world around us and empowering us to make a positive difference for future generations to come.

Extensive research and evidence collected from various continents have shown significant progress in the field of e-mobility, paving the way towards a cleaner and greener world. This has led to a growing awareness of the need for positive actions and innovative solutions in everyday life, in order to make sustainable living and working the new norm. Greener and Cleaner is a noble initiative aimed at inspiring and equipping individuals and organizations with the necessary resources and skills to create social change and combat the pressing climate crisis.

Furthermore, a Just Transition is a paramount consideration to ensure that the benefits of climate action are maximized while effectively managing any challenges that may arise. This will require effective social dialogue and respect for the principles and rights of all impacted groups, including labourers.

When we burn gasoline, we release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This greenhouse gas is a significant contributor to climate change, which has numerous negative consequences for the environment. To determine the cost of these consequences, experts use a metric called the Social Cost of Carbon. This metric includes the economic, ecological, health, and physical impacts of climate change, such as reduced agricultural productivity, negative health effects, property damage from floods, and changes in energy costs.

However, despite its comprehensive approach, this metric is still not entirely accurate. Some of the damages caused by climate change are challenging to measure and identify precisely, indicating that the Social Cost of Carbon may underestimate the true cost of carbon emissions.

The transition to an electricity-powered transportation sector for economic development has both advantages and disadvantages, as with any change. One of the most significant benefits of adopting electric vehicles is their potential to save money on maintenance and operation costs. Compared to conventional gasoline and diesel vehicles, electric vehicles require less maintenance, which can translate to lower costs for individuals or businesses. This, in turn, can free up more funds to invest in the local economy rather than on expenses such as gasoline, oil changes, or transmission fluid. However, the adoption of electric vehicles may also lead to job losses in the oil industry, gas stations, and the auto maintenance and mechanic industry.

As electric vehicles require less maintenance and repairs, there may be a reduced need for traditional auto mechanics and technicians. Additionally, the oil industry and gas stations may face a decrease in demand for their products if electric vehicles become more widespread.

Despite these potential drawbacks, the adoption of electric vehicles can also create new job opportunities in the auto industry. Direct jobs may include those in manufacturing, research and development, and battery manufacturing. Meanwhile, indirect jobs can be created in the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle supply equipment.

The transition to an electricity-powered transportation sector has both benefits and costs. While it may lead to job losses in some industries, it can also create new opportunities and save individuals and businesses money on maintenance and operation costs.

Exposure to fine particle pollution is an issue that cannot be overlooked. It is primarily found in vehicle tailpipe emissions and can have severe, life-threatening health impacts. Both short-term and long-term exposure to this pollution can cause early death and significant cardiovascular harm such as heart attacks, strokes, heart disease, and congestive heart failure.

Additionally, respiratory harm such as worsened asthma, worsened chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, inflammation, and potential cancer are also concerns. Fossil fuel emissions have also been linked to autism spectrum disorder and low birth weight of infants. It is particularly concerning for infants, children, and teens as they are more susceptible to these health risks due to their physiology, growth, and higher breathing rates.

The best solution to reduce these emissions entirely is to transition to an electric vehicle powered by clean renewable energy. This can be achieved by utilizing international battery, hybrid, and fuel cell electric vehicle symposium-based emissions. Taking action now can positively impact not only our own health but also the health of future generations.

Despite the noble objective of making electric vehicles readily available to the masses, there are still a number of obstacles that must be overcome before this goal can be fully realized. One of the most pressing issues is the lack of charging infrastructure, which limits the number of places where electric vehicles can be charged and makes it difficult for people to travel long distances without running out of power.

Another challenge is the inadequate state of many of our roads, which can be inaccessible or poorly maintained and may not be able to accommodate electric vehicles. To ensure that the transition to electric vehicles is successful, it is essential that we improve our infrastructure and make electric power available to all. It is also important that electric vehicles are affordable and provide satisfactory performance, so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of this transition.

To further the cause of sustainable transportation through the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, it is crucial for the country to monitor and regulate the availability of key raw materials such as Nickel and Lithium. To achieve this, one effective strategy could be to limit the export of these materials and import only what is necessary for electric vehicle production within the country.

By retaining the industry within our borders, we can not only bolster the economy by creating new job opportunities but also reap various other benefits. This could include reduced dependence on foreign suppliers, improved quality control, and increased research and development activities within the local industry.

As per the 2019 census conducted by the Kenya Bureau of Statistics (KBS), the total Kenyan population was approximately 48 million. The graph depicting population growth has been showing a gradual increase over time. Out of the total population, the youths constituted 29%, which translates to around 14 million individuals.

It is worth noting that the youth population has been increasing positively over time, which is definitely a commendable trend. However, the question that arises is what the future holds for them in terms of employment opportunities.

Currently, the rate of unemployment among youths has been rapidly increasing, with approximately 40% currently unemployed. Unfortunately, graduates make up a significant portion of those affected. Each year, over 50,000 students graduate according to Standard Newspaper, yet employment opportunities are scarce and cannot accommodate all graduates.

Numerous individuals seek higher education as a means to attain employment and establish a successful future. Regrettably, some individuals become disheartened and may even resort to burning their academic credentials or taking their own lives.

Nevertheless, this outcome can be prevented if we open ourselves up to diversity. At times, I contemplate the conventional route our forefathers took to enroll in tertiary institutions, which entailed undergoing National Youth Service (NYS) training and promoting diversity.

Let us strive for innovation and embrace diversity while acknowledging the value of new skills we may acquire. By volunteering and maintaining an open mind, we can broaden our horizons and pursue diverse paths, rather than limiting ourselves to a single direction, all while taking responsibility for our own financial well-being without relying on the government.

Rather than simply aiming for retirement, let us consider a career change and explore the abundant opportunities presented by advancing technology and modernization. We must be wise and seize opportunities as they arise, so as not to regret inaction later in life. And throughout this process, let us remain mindful of the importance of preserving, cherishing, and promoting nature.

In order to combat ecological and environmental degradation, it is crucial that we as individuals feel a sense of duty and responsibility. One impactful way to contribute to the preservation of our planet is through volunteerism. It is incumbent upon us to take action and play our part in safeguarding the natural world for generations to come.

By devoting our time and resources to environmental causes, we can make a significant impact in reducing the harmful effects of pollution, deforestation, and climate change. Let us all rise to the challenge and strive for a cleaner and healthier planet. The prevalence of environmental injustices has resulted in untimely deaths, declining health, widespread flooding, and property destruction across the globe.

The Green Belt Movement founded by Wangari Mathai has effectively rallied young volunteers to address these concerns. The act of volunteering is crucial and presents a wealth of advantages;

First and foremost, it shall promote peaceful coexistence and a sense of belonging in society. Fostering harmonious coexistence within a community cultivates a profound sense of togetherness and supports the overall well-being of its members. This promotes a fairer and more balanced society, where every individual can flourish.

Additionally, it shall promote innovation among youths. Innovative youth are essential for improving society. Plastic pollution harms our environment and wildlife. We can help by collecting and recycling plastic, and creating arts to generate income and promote awareness. This approach also reduces crime rates by providing economic opportunities.

Moreover, it is imperative to foster individual integrity, especially in the 21st century where the integrity of youth is often called into question. The solution lies in volunteering and doing what is right even when no one is watching. By instilling this sense of self-integrity from a young age within a nurturing environment, we can ensure a better future for the next generation.

Last but not least, it promotes good health. Prioritizing our health and hygiene is crucial. Environmental injustices have the potential to cause waterborne and respiratory diseases, as well as harm aquatic life. By taking proactive measures to conserve and protect our environment through volunteering, we can guarantee a healthier and longer life for ourselves and generations to come.

Finally, the increase in food production is inevitable. Land is the most crucial aspect to consider since our staple foods come from it. To avoid poverty and hunger, it is essential to protect nature and preserve the environment voluntarily. This will enable us to produce enough food not only to feed ourselves but also to sell.

Therefore, the preservation of the environment is indispensable and must be given the utmost importance. We must take the lead and set an example for others to follow by encouraging, supporting, and empowering proactive champions and ambassadors of environmental justice through education. Let’s join hands and strive to promote sustainability, education, and sustainable livelihoods for all.

A documentation of arboretum was first done in the early 18th century. Where a private tree collection of Captain Robert Holford of the Holford Estate was founded and nurtured effectively. Furthermore, the biggest arboretum in the world is found in England, called Royal Botanic Garden in Kew. Which covers about 300 acre.

Generally, arboretum refers to a place where trees are cultivated for scientific and educational research or interest, on the other hand, it is a botanical garden devoted for trees. As we are aware of climate concerns brought by environmental degradation through industrial wastes, transport (carbon emission), agricultural chemicals and natural activities or events. Why can’t we live on earth as if it was borrowed? I’m quite sure that something you borrow you will not misuse, unless you are uncivilized citizen which I believe we are not.

Apart from educational and scientific research and analysis, it promotes a serene environmental atmosphere for reading and meditation of the read context. Readers and writers requires a serene and a cool environment for the brain to operate effectively. Therefore, let us encourage the creation of such like arboretum in various institutions and other parts of the nation, in order to promote both reading culture and environmental conservation hence serving justice to the environment and positive climate change.

It will not only promote the mentioned subject but also it will lead to the economical advancement through boosting the tourism sector since most tourists will be attracted towards such scenes. Moreover, the government and institutions will earn revenue adequately, leading to creation of employments for the youths.

Finally, for us to prevent these unnecessary deaths and sufferings brought by climate changes and environmental injustices, there is need to take care of our environment generally by just being responsible and answerable of our actions. Let us unite to promote and empower proactive champions and ambassadors of environmental justice through education and actions. Green, educate and impact sustainable life.

By mid-18th century the first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was discovered by Snelling in his studies of gasoline volatility. Which was used for portable fuel sources, and its production and consumption for both domestic and industrial use. Before then there was massive use of wood.

About 9% of the Kenyan LPG is imported over-land from Tanzania while the remaining percentage is produced in Kenya around Mombasa and some private owned terminals. Furthermore, the liquefied natural gas was unearth by Michael Faraday, which later led to the construction of the Liquefied Natural Gas plant in West Virginia. Great achievement it was I must admit. This transition was relevant in to Africa later on, that ease various sectors in one way or the other.

Cooking is one of the most essential domestic practices in human life. There are some foods that cannot be eaten raw therefore, they must be cooked. With relevance to massive technological advancements and modernity which led to the discovery of domestic cooking gas, which saves time and makes work easier to some degree.

The primary contents of domestic cooking gas that is, liquefied petroleum gas are hydrocarbons, such as propane (C3H8), butane (C4H10), isobutane HC(CH3)3, propylene (C3H6), and butylene (C4H8). Liquefied Petroleum Gas is a highly flammable mixture of these hydrocarbon gases which is widely used as a fuel in households.

But there is some invisible environmental injustice here. In most of the people in commercial areas and in rural areas who can afford these Liquefied Petroleum Gas lights them carelessly that might even lead to explosion, that aside, when you turn the burner on before lighting the matchstick there is a given percentage the gas that escapes to the atmosphere, and this practice is most commonly done by the tertiary institution students, in which to them its common; suppose the whole town does that, how will the environment be?

Remember the components of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas is commonly hydrocarbon, in the process you at your personal level inhales the components, this may lead to health complications like respiratory diseases.

On the other hand, these hydrocarbons are enhances the production of greenhouse gases that interferes with the Ozone (O3) layer, which in turn affects the climate negatively, by letting the rays into our skin thereby, causing skin cancer. Finally, environmental conservation requires a collective responsibility from each and every one of us. It cost nothing to take care of our environment, it’s for our own good and the coming generation. Take precaution, save the world.
