However, In as much as your sentiments are preferably correct, I tend to think that the decision was inspired by a desire to continue instilling a new tradition (gender equality) into the next generation. Was it a theme in the previous book? Of course it was, but has the theme advanced its purpose yet? Not it has not. Think of it as gender equality being a weapon, students being soldiers, and a partiachal-women discriminating society as the enemy. The generals would want to give as many soldiers as possible weapons to fight the enemy. So we should expect that for the next couple of choices for books to be sketchbook, the thematic concerns will still highlight the same issues.
