THE YOUTUBE REWARDS

The former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim are the great brains behind this successful video-sharing platform. Founded in February 2005, YouTube has exposed copious talents and also helped a multitude to express themselves, leave alone making money.

There are a number of people earning a living out of YouTube. Big names such as PewDiePie, Mr Beast, Shane Dawnson and Liza Koshy have extremely accumulated subscribers, viewers and also won a number of the YouTube play buttons. YouTube has become their full time office.

The YouTube play buttons are recognition awards from Google. Well, I will have to take you back and remind you that in November 2006, Google bought YouTube for US$1.65 billion.

There are three YouTube play buttons that are awarded to youtubers when they hit a particular number of subscribers. The Silver Play button is awarded when a YouTuber hits 100, 000 subscribers, Gold play button awarded when one hits 1,000,000 subscribers and Diamond play button awarded to a YouTuber with 10,000,000 subscribers.

Just recently, a Kenyan Comedian, Henry Desagu received the Silver Play Button from Google after scooping 100,000 subscribers.

Last year, three Kenyan brands won the same accolade. KTN News Kenya, Njugush, Real House Helps Of Kawangware, Nyashinski and Africha Movies were the privileged brands to fetch the acknowledgement of merit.

YouTubers are evolving day by day in Kenya with entrancing content neighboring from fashion, lifestyle, fitness, comedy, relationships and travel.

Don’t hold back your talent, take your camera (either phone or digital camera) do what you love and upload, that’s it.

And as Randy King said in the interview we had with him a couple of months ago”you don’t have to be rich to be a vlogger, just do what you love.”
