THE BIGGEST DANCE CREW IN KENYA (ICON DANCEHALL FRATERNITY)

It is unarguably the biggest dancehall teams in Kenya, or atleast the top 2. They mobilize, they revolutionize and impact positivity in dance fanatics. Here is what they did and what they are upto.

Tell us a bit about Icon Dancehall Fraternity

Icon Dancehall Fraternity is one of the biggest dancehall team in the 254 and it began in the year 2014 as a team consisting of various teams, which led to mentoring dance program to dancers, lovers of dance and choreographers

How many are you?

We are considered to be five in number but the whole team consists of 30 dancers

Who is the leader of this big crew?

Well, the leader of the fraternity is called Robbin Eastwood.

How did the idea come about?

He came up with the idea of bringing dancers from different crews together just to put in much more efforts in dancehall, dance in general, inorder to bring out the bests in the 254 dance industry.

You only dance to dancehall?

We are all rounded
We do Afro dance, hip-hop, e.t.c

What is the major challenge that you face?

Major and only Challenge is;

Artists complaining their music to be played on airwaves Whereas they can’t pay dancers.

What are the best moments that you had last year (2018)?

Quite alot,

1.We got to hold the biggest dancehall workshops in kenya which accommodated about 100+ dancers.
2.Robbin Eastwood got nomination in mzuqa awards as the best male dance.
3.We manage to be finalists in the talanta mashinani dance competition.
4.We got to be part of the safaricom open day official dancers.
4.We got featured in the Life Of A Dancer program which is is currently airing on Viusasa.

What is your next project?

Our next project is currently underway.
We’ve got a massive dancehall link up with about 5teams that we will release it in the month of February.

We have projects for the whole year, with different genre of dance:
1.Diversty
2.Synchronized at same pace .
3.0ur Choreography – very different from other Kenyan dancehall teams
